Connecting Foster Children to Community Resources

Adopted from foster care
Every year thousands of foster children age out of foster care and are thrust into adulthood ill equipped and completely unprepared. Over night, in the blink of an eye, foster children are suddenly expected to shoulder all of their baggage, to take years of unmet needs and begin the most important journey of their lives. For most children, this would be the first day of the rest of their lives, but for a foster child, this is merely a path to failure and devastation. With no one to guide them, no one to nurture them and no one to teach them, they are expected to succeed with one of life's most important journeys- adulthood- all on their own.
Our Mission - Fostering SuperStars is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to creating community resources for foster children through foster education, training and advocacy. By connecting children in foster care with community resources to become thriving and successful adults, we are able to create a ‘community of care’ where foster children feel loved, valued and wanted.
How do we do this? We connect foster children with organizations, community partnerships and individuals to meet the numerous unmet needs of foster children.
We empower and inspire children in foster care to rise above a reach beyond the limitations of their current circumstances. We teach life skill classes and share empowerment stories and strategies.
As we educate and connect the community with our cause, we recruit Mentors, CASA workers, Foster Parents and Foster Adoptive Parents as well as volunteers.
Fostering SuperStars is committed to raising both awareness and support for America's forgotten children through speaking engagements, community involvement and volunteer work.
We are educating America on the plight of the foster child and raising public awareness so that foster children will no longer feel the emotional burden of rejection. Every child just wants to be loved and accepted for who they are regardless of their life circumstances.
Singularly, yes...we can make changes, but when we come together as one....... we can create miracles.
Fostering SuperStars Founder, Helen Ramaglia, can lend a personal perspective as she grew up in the foster care system and welcomes the opportunity to speak to your organization. She has presented to a variety of community groups including: civic and faith-based organizations, business associations, children’s organizations, and schools to name a few. Helen has a unique insight to advocate for the unbelievable amount of needs, voids and gaps in the lives of children in foster care that others don't even realize exist.
_____________
DO YOU KNOW.........
Do you know that most foster children who age out of foster care are lacking the skills necessary to become successful adults?
Do you know that most of these children become will become homeless after leaving foster care, or arrested, or worse yet sold into the sex trade industry?
Do you know that most children who age out of foster care will not have a drivers license, or car, no way to afford car insurance, or reliable references or transportation to acquire a job?
Do you know that once a foster child ages out of care, we have no way to track where they go or what happens to them?
Do you know that after a foster child turns 18 or sometimes 21, America is no longer liable for this child and they no longer matter.
