About Us
Fostering SuperStars is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization founded by a former foster child who aged out of the system ill-equipped and unprepared for adult life. We began as an empowerment support system for aging-out foster youth, where I shared struggles and lessons from my own foster care journey to equip and inspire foster youth to success.

During one such event, a foster child came to me and told me it was her 16th birthday. With a long, sad face, she said, "Ms. Helen, I'm not sure anyone knows." It took me back to a time when I, too, had secret birthdays. Revisiting the emptiness of the memory prompted me to act. I immediately stopped the event, and within an hour, we were singing, laughing, and blowing out candles. We spent the rest of the day celebrating her.....

We collaborate with individuals, companies, children's homes, and community partners to bring resources to foster youth and use service-learning activities to educate foster caregivers and local communities on issues surrounding the foster care system and growing up 'foster'.

Our foundation has allowed us to equip thousands of foster youth, foster parents, and legislatures with skills, knowledge, and empowerment that only experience can teach.

About Fostering SuperStars
OUR MISSION

Fostering SuperStars is a non-profit organization dedicated to celebrating the life, dreams, and birthday wishes of children who wouldn't otherwise be celebrated.
How We Began
IMy name is Helen Ramaglia, and I am a former foster child who was literally tossed out of care at 18 with $250.00 and wishes for a successful life. Seriously, my parents, the Government of the United States of America said, "Congratulations. You're an adult today! Here's $250 to get you started. Good luck - and by the way, don't forget to succeed."
In June of 2008, two adorable foster boys stepped through my front door and into my heart. Advocating for the needs of my two wonderful little boys was difficult and often left me feeling confused and exhausted. The foster care system didn’t offer much assistance, being overwhelmed, understaffed, and short on funds to offer much more than the government-provided basics.
While unpacking their 4 black garbage bags of ratty belongings, I was reminded of my own journey into the foster care system. It took me back to the day when two strangers, knocked on my door, tossed 2 black garbage bags at me, and said I had 5 minutes to stuff them with as much as I could. Decades later, I realized it was still the same broken system I lived in.

At that moment, I knew I found my purpose - Fostering SuperStars.

Celebrating the lives of children living in the foster care system.

No Trash Bags For Kids
In Foster Care

Over 700 children enter the foster care system each day, some temporarily for many, long term. Most are given two trash bags to carry their belongings. These children have been neglected and often feel like they don’t matter.

At Fostering SuperStars we, we know these children deserve better than that. To help foster kids have more positive experiences, we have volunteers like you decorate, stuff, and donate Hope Totes all over the United States. Together, we can work to eliminate trash bags from foster care.
